Even though your years of working as a member of SMWIA Local 30 are over, there is still a place for you.
The Club started in 1989 when about 12 retired members decided to meet at the union hall, to chat and have a few refreshments. Each brought their own brown bag lunch. This has evolved into the most active and best retired members club in the GTA’s building trades. Today there are about 100 members, 75 spouses, and 7 associate members.
Club 30 is made up of retired members of Local 30 from all sectors, Sheet Metal, Roofing, Production, Sheeters & Deckers.
Dues for membership in Club 30 are $25.00. annually. Every member is entitled to bring their spouse (there is no charge for the member’s spouse).
The spouses have formed a Ladies Auxiliary and these ladies prepare the wonderful lunches each week. The lunches are offered at a nominal charge of $3.00 in addition, once per month there is a free lunch day. Come and enjoy a tasty Roast Beef Dinner, Summer BBQ’s, Corn Beef Day or one of the weekly specials.
Club 30 is open every Wednesday between 10 am and 4 pm.
The members can play pool, cribbage, euchre and there is a bingo on the last Wednesday of each month. There is a weekly 50/50 draw and a meat draw, which pays for the clubs operation.
The Club holds 2 dinner dances a year, one in September and the other in December. These dances are held outside Local 30’s hall and a sit down meal is provided. The club has day trips on an ongoing basis these trips are offered at cost. REMEMBER: THERE ARE NO STRANGERS AT “CLUB30”-JUST FRIENDS WE HAVE YET TO MEET!
